Whipple Creek Workparties Great for Families, Youth
We're looking for youth and families to participate in a work party right in Vancouver's backyard. Bring your child (and inner child) to connect with nature in Whipple Creek Park, a 300-acre green oasis in the midst of farmlands to the west of the Clark County Fairgrounds.
Whipple Creek Park is a 300-acre green oasis in the midst of farmlands to the west of the Clark County Fairgrounds. This hike loops through colossal Douglas fir trees and waist-high sword ferns to provide a primordial experience where you are dwarfed by nature. There is a small meadow for a picnic and the remnants of a grist mill to explore.
It's a great hike to escape urban life and be immersed in a peaceful forest environment.
It's also the destination of two special upcoming work parties geared just for youth and families. If you want to know what to expect, here's a recent trip report from a Whipple Creek work party.
Whipple Creek - Special Half-Day Work Party for Youth, Families
Special Half-Day Event 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
We're looking for youth and families to participate in a work party right in Vancouver's "backyard". Bring your child (and inner child) to connect with nature while building a new section of trail for future generations to enjoy.

Trapper Creek area workparties and camping weekend in the South Cascades near Mount Adams
When you volunteer at Trapper Creek, you'll get a chance to explore old-growth forest protected within this Wilderness. This gem offers deep solitude just a short drive from the Portland/Vancouver Metro Area. A system of trails varying from easy to extreme provide many options for loop hikes including Observation Peak with a 360 degree, breathtaking vista.
We need volunteers for Saturday, Sunday, or both to help restore these trails.
