This popular hike was quiet today, maybe it was the weather, just a few light sprinkles tho, and then the raingear came off and into the pack. Not much to say except MUSHROOMS! There were so many different kinds! Some were past their prime, but many were just out. All my posted pics are mushrooms we saw.  The trail itself is in great condition, you can tell this is a well loved and maintained trail thanks to several volunteer groups. There is a replacement bridge going in right at the left part of the loop where the trail is closed off, hike to the right to go around the lake. We ate our lunch on the bench dedicated to Terry Lamp who was a crew leader on many work parties here, thanks Terry! Be sure and stop and take the short trail to the viewpoint either on the way up or back, it's about halfway and well marked, good views out across the Sound. We parked in the park by the entrance and walked across to the TH, the restroom is right there past the entrance booth. I got about 6 miles and 1100 ' so a nice little hike for the grandmas today
