To meet requirements enacted by agency partners, all staff and volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before attending any WTA events beginning Dec. 2, 2021. Submitting proof of vaccination is necessary prior to work party participation. Here are some frequently asked questions about this process.
Why is WTA requiring vaccinations?
As a nonprofit who operates on public lands, WTA is subject to vaccination requirements enacted by public agency and land manager partners. To meet these requirements and continue our practices of leaning into the best public health recommendations to keep everyone safe on trail, all WTA staff and volunteers will be required to present proof of vaccination beginning Dec. 2, 2021.
I am not vaccinated. Is there an exemption form or will you accept proof of a negative COVID test instead?
WTA is unable to make accommodations for unvaccinated volunteers at this time due to agency requirements.
What kind of vaccination proof am I required to provide?
Proof of vaccination can be provided in the form of a vaccination card, photo/screenshot of vaccination card or WA Verify screenshot.
How are you verifying vaccination cards?
After registering for a WTA event, volunteers will be emailed a form with instructions on how to submit proof of vaccination before the event. A WTA staff member will then review each form submission and update records in our system. No other medical information or copies of submitted documents will be retained in our system.
Will I need to show my vaccination card at every work party or event?
No, you only have to submit the vaccination verification form once.
Do I have to bring my vaccination card to the work party?
No, but you must submit proof of vaccination to WTA when registering for an event ahead of arrival. If you submit your card for verification within 24 hours of your work party start date, please bring your card or a photo in case our system does not capture your submission in time.
Will WTA share my information to any 3rd parties?
No - any records of vaccination status will be maintained with WTA at this time, and WTA will only retain your name and date of the final shot in your vaccination series. Information may need to be shared with an agency partner pending their requirements in the future.
When am I considered fully vaccinated?
Volunteers are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after the last shot required in any vaccination series (2nd dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or 1 dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine).
Do you require boosters?
At this time, we are not requiring boosters as part of the vaccination requirement. We will re-evaluate boosters once they become more accessible to the general public, or we see changes in the requirements from our agency partners. If you have had a booster shot, please use that date when submitting your form.
What is the age requirement for events?
Volunteers must be age 10 or older and fully vaccinated to participate in our events occurring on or after Dec. 2, 2021.
Is this requirement permanent?
WTA’s protocols are based on requirements enacted by agency and land manager partners and will be updated on an as needed basis. WTA reserves the right to change or adapt vaccination requirements based on new state and federal guidelines and recommendations or updated agency requirements.
